For Farms & Lifestyle Blocks

Why join us?

Taranaki sends thousands of tonnes of food waste to landfill annually. A significant portion comes from commercial kitchens. We offer a hassle-free, local, and scalable food waste diversion system that will be processed and used in Taranaki.

The resulting pre-compost (Bokashi method) collected from local commercial kitchens is delivered to local farms, market gardens, and community gardens, where it is further refined using the Johnson-Su composting method to create microbial-rich compost that restores soil health.

We can provide farmers with a cost-effective, sustainable alternative to synthetic fertilisers, reducing input costs while improving crop resilience and productivity.

A lush green field with a snow-capped mountain in the background and a partially cloudy sky. In the foreground, a circular logo with the text 'Green Loop', many green and white colors, and the phrases 'Transforming Waste' and 'Regenerating Soil' is overlaid on the field.

What benefits?

  • Compost ready on-site

  • Create your own nutrient-dense, living compost and restore your farm's soil health

  • Reduce the use of fertilisers

  • Carbon sequestration (climate change mitigation and carbon credits)

To participate in Green Loop, you only need:

  • Space for bins: We suggest a covered location of at least 9 square metres for the wheelie bins to get stored while the pre-compost matures

  • Space to build compost bays, store Johnson-Su (in IBC tanks) or swales to convert the bokashi material

  • Carbon source to mix with the bokashi material once ready to compost: mulch, bark, shavings or another carbon-rich material

  • Some machinery will be beneficial: digger for swales, scooping in the mulch and/or mixing the components.

Testimonial

Nadja Caroline Gottfert, local farmer, Eudaimonia.

“I’m thrilled that Eudaimonia is the pilot site for Green Loop. For me, it’s a chance to nerd out on composting and see how food waste can become something valuable for our soils and our community.

I get to use the compost on the land, grow nutrient-dense food to share, and keep refining the process as I learn. It feels good to be part of turning a few tonnes of ‘waste’ into something useful: closing another loop and staying true to the way of life I believe in.”
